On March 2nd, 2024, the MPX Gallery at Seoul's iconic Yeouido district within IFC Mall announced the world premiere of 'MINIATURE LIFE · MITATE MIND', the latest series by renowned miniature artist Tanaka Tatsuya.
'MITATE MIND' introduces a fresh perspective to the Japanese aesthetic, transforming everyday s into extraordinary works of art. Through this exhibition, the artist invites audiences into the world of 'MITATE MIND', where round glasses turn into bicycles and soft ice cream transfigures into elegant wedding dresses. After its debut at the MPX Gallery in IFC Mall, Seoul, the exhibition will continue in Tokyo, Japan, starting in August.
This exhibition is organized seven themes: 'HOME,' 'FORM,' 'COLOR,' 'SCALE,' 'MOTION,' 'LIFE,' and 'WORLD,' showcasing 52 original miniatures and over 200 photographs and videos for the first time globally. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore behind-the-scenes stories and the creation processes of the artist's works through videos. Additionally, there is a photo zone featuring large-scale s, providing visitors with an immersive experience similar to stepping into the world of miniatures. The exhibition will run until June 10th, with both on-site purchases and online reservations available through the official website.
An official from IFC Mall stated, "Inspired by the passion and admiration shown by the Korean audience during the Miniature Life exhibition in 2021, the artist has chosen Korea as the location for the global premiere of this exhibition." They further added, "IFC Mall remains committed to delivering fresh content and rich artistic experiences, striving to become a space where cultural and artistic appreciation flourishes."
Meanwhile, Tatsuya Tanaka has gained widespread attention as an artist who has consistently released his work every single day since 2011. Over the course of 13 years, he has served actively as both an art director and designer across diverse fields. Presenting witty miniature works featuring common s found in our surroundings, he has attracted over 2.1 million viewers and more than 3.8 million followers. Making a significant impact on the public, he officially introduced himself to the Korean audience during his first solo exhibition held at the MPX Gallery in IFC Mall in 2021.
